Dosage
The amount of tea per person can vary greatly depending on the type of tea and preferences.
We therefore deliberately refrain from giving exact gram quantities and state the amount of tea required for leaf teas in "teaspoons", which can vary in size. However, this leaves more leeway when adapting to your own taste.
As a starting point, a level teaspoon is a good guide for preparing green leaf tea
If in doubt, dose the tea a little higher at the beginning - if the tea is too strong, simply add a little water to the finished tea and reduce the amount the next time until you find the ideal dosage for you. If the tea is too light, you will miss out on the best flavors and it is difficult to make a tea that is too thin stronger afterwards.
We recommend brewing in a clay pot. Choose the size of the pot so that you can fill the desired number of tea cups.
On the KEIKO boxes you will find an infusion table with the preparation instructions for all KEIKO leaf teas.
As a rule, one to two heaped matcha measuring spoons (chashaku) per serving is recommended for the preparation of ground tea powder and matcha, which corresponds to 0.5-2g. When preparing koicha, the quantity may be doubled and the amount of water reduced to create a thick mass.
