The pre-sale starts! As of today, the 4 Shinchas are available for pre-order in the shop - also as a value set with 4x50g and a tasting notes booklet for tasting all varieties - the delivery date is currently set for 31st of May, but if we are lucky it will be faster, then the pre-orders will be sent out first!

The first teas of the year were tasted today at the Shincha event in Kagoshima - of course our colleagues from Shimodozono Japan were also there - this TV report (Japanese only) gave a little impression of the event.+++++ 2024-05-08 +++++
As soon as the first batches have been processed, the first preliminary samples are sent by post so that we here in Diepholz can get an idea of the new harvest vintage and prepare the descriptions. Yesterday the time had come and we were able to savour the first sips of Shincha 2024! This year, for the first time, it includes Shincha Sae Midori - a very special droplet made from the only lightly steamed leaves of the Sae Midori cultivar - more on this shortly! The rest of the tea was collected from Kagoshima today and is now travelling to Germany. Provided the customs authorities cooperate, the tea should be ready for sale after Whitsun!

The shading nets have now been applied (the picture shows Yutakamidori for Tencha full shade tea on the right and for Kabusecha partial shade tea on the left.
Harvesting at the KEIKO organic farm is expected to start in the middle of next week. The Shincha will then go on sale in May - you will find out more details here or in the KEIKO newsletter in the near future!+++++ 2024-03-21 +++++
Here comes the first news from Shincha 2024!
It is yet too early for predictions about the harvest quality, but the relatively mild climate in recent months has ensured that the tea plants have awoken early from their winter dormancy.
The tea exchange in Kagoshima has therefore set this years' start of the auction for conventional tea on April 4th - usually it is not until 8th-10th of April!
The organic teas always come a little later - their harvest is currently forecast for mid-April.
Keep our fingers crossed that there will be no more late frost now, wich would damage the tender leaves!
